Congratulations, we are very happy that you have decided to get married. We wish you every joy and God's blessing. We the priests of the parish shall be happy to help you in your arrangements so don’t hesitate to call on us.

What To Do:

There is a certain procedure that you should follow. If you follow this plan everything should run smoothly.  Check out http://www.gettingmarried.ie/

Fixing The Date:
The couple should first contact the Parish Office to fix the date and time in the Church Diary. The parish secretary will send you out a provisional booking form which needs to be sent back and signed by a Priest of the Parish to confirm the booking. It is important to do this as soon as possible before contacting the Civil Registrar.

There are no weddings celebrated on Sundays or Holy Days in the Dublin Diocese. Priests of the Parish will celebrate the wedding ceremony with couples who grew up or live in Foxrock Parish. Visiting Priests relatives and friends are very welcome to celebrate the ceremony. They must however, be registered as a solemniser of weddings with the State. Couples from outside Foxrock Parish must bring their own Priest. In this case no booking will be taken until the Priest has confirmed he will celebrate the wedding.

Parish Office Hours: 10.30am-12.30pm Mon-Fri. Tel: 289 34 92. Email  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

Our Parish Secretary [LINK] will provide information about music; singers and organists, church flowers, red carpet etc and will also discuss the relevant fees and Church offering.

Change of Civil Marriage Law
As of November 2007, the marriage provisions of the Civil Registration Act, 2004 came into effect. The main requirements resulting from change are detailed here:

Application to be made to Registrar of Marriages: Joyce House, Lombard Street East, Dublin 2 District Rathdown West or the local county Registrar of Marriages e.g. Wicklow.  This should be done when Church, date and time are fixed.

Pre-Marriage Courses:
All couples must do some pre-marriage preparation. We strongly advise couples to do a pre-marriage course and to book same as soon as possible as courses are usually heavily booked. Ideally the course should be done nine months before the wedding.

To learn more about the various type of courses that are available and/or to book a course, click here.

Most couples find pre-marriage courses helpful, interesting and encouraging. They involve:
1. Being with other engaged couples in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
2. Listening to married people talking about their own experience of marriage.
3. Learning more about different aspects of married life (love, sexuality, relationship, conflict, children, Christian living, etc.)

For couples of inter or mixed-faith check out the Embrace course which is organised by ACCORD and the Church of Ireland.

Documents You Will Need to Complete the PRE-NUPTIAL ENQUIRY FORM:

1. A NEW Certificate of Baptism (dated within six months of your wedding) from the Church where you were Baptised.

2. If you are marrying a person from another Christian denomination or Faith specific documentation and dispensations are required. Please contact the priest of the Parish you reside in at least 6 months before marriage to begin this process.

3 A LETTER OF FREEDOM from any parish you have lived in for more than six months since you were 18 years of age. In most cases a signed letter from your parents or sibling testifying to your freedom to marry is sufficient.

4. A CONFIRMATION CERTIFICATE available from the Church you were confirmed in.

5. A PRE-NUPTIAL ENQUIRY FORM to be completed by the priest from your parish. THIS FORM IS ESSENTIAL.

6. MARRIAGE REGISTRATION FORM (MRF)

For Couples Who Are Living Abroad and Who Wish To Come To Ireland For Their Wedding:

Contact the local priest in the area where you live. Tell him you wish to marry in Ireland and ask him to please:

1. Complete your Pre-Nuptial Enquiry Form for you.

2. Obtain whatever permission/dispensation may be required if you are marrying a person from another Christian denomination or from another religion.

3. Ask your local priest to send your completed papers through your local Bishop’s Office to The Chancellery, Archbishop’s House, Drumcondra, Dublin 9, Ireland.

The parish where your marriage is to take place shall then receive a notification that all is in order for the marriage to proceed.

Organist:

If you wish to have an Organist you must make the arrangement with the parish organist (contact the Parish Office).

Flowers:

Please contact the Parish Office in advance for any floral arrangements.

Just Before The Wedding:

See the priest again, about 2 months before the wedding as all documents must be completed in good time.  A rehearsal may be arranged with a priest a few days before the wedding.

THIS REHEARSAL IS BOOKED WITH THE SACRISTAN. Tel. 289 88 79

Be sure you go to Confession in preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage.

Papal Blessing:

If you wish to apply for the Pope’s Blessing you will need a reference from a Priest. This Blessing is available ONLY to practicing Catholics. (12 weeks notice usually required).

The Papal Blessing is given without charge, but if you wish to have parchment they are available in Veritas, Abbey Street, at varying prices.
